Go Back to the Nature

“Nature, who brought you on the earth, can Nurture you”

Nature, which brought you into existence, also has the power to nurture you.” It provides everything you need in your immediate surroundings, minimizing the need to look far. For instance, in the Gangetic plain during the hot, dry summer, nature offers hydrating fruits like cucumbers and watermelons, perfectly suited to the season.

We’ve all heard the proverb, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” First popularized in Wales, UK, in the 1860s and printed in 1922, this saying was rooted in the local geographical and dietary context. Over time, it spread globally, contributing to the widespread popularity of apples across different regions.

However, if we compare nutrient profiles, other fruits and vegetables native to specific regions may often meet or exceed the nutritional benefits of apples. For instance, a graph comparing apples, eggplants (brinjal), and custard apples highlights the varying nutrient components in these foods, demonstrating that each has its own unique value.

The nutrients often celebrated in apples, such as polyphenolics, are also abundant in other natural sources:

  • Carotene-β: Found in abundance in tomatoes and carrots.
  • Crypto-xanthin-β: Common in papayas and mangoes.
  • Lutein-zeaxanthin: Present in dark leafy greens and maize (Zea mays).

This underscores the fact that nature provides everything needed for human well-being within reach. By understanding and utilizing locally available natural resources, one can often find a better or equally beneficial alternative to external or imported options. The takeaway is simple: before turning to synthetic or exotic sources, prioritize exploring and using natural, locally available alternatives for the same benefits.
