Now, one can ask
why to have doubt on exponentially flourishing pharma system? And answer is
hidden in the question itself i.e. “exponentially flourishing”. As everyone
is knowing exponential growth is ‘unnatural’ say for example, cancer. However,
I have a question to ask. Have you not ever stuck on any of following thought?
·
“why there are many ‘U’ turns in curing methods
of modern medical science?”
o
“why to take filter water than take additional
‘good bacteria’?
o
Firstly, they have advertised take “clean white
flour” now they are saying taking ‘flour with wheat bran’ is more healthy
o Cleaning teeth
with salt could damage your gums but now selling “Does your toothpaste contain
salts?”
In order to find to the answer, let’s consider one more question. Even a layman is also aware of the fact that occurrence of a disease is an outcome of a sum interaction of HOST-PATHOGEN-ENVIRONMENT triangle. This tell us that an appearance of disease will not outbreak until environment favors the pathogen not the host. In other words, occurrence of a disease is function of environment. Thus, cosmopolitan nature of any disease is simply impossible. But what’s going on? Contrary to this basic fundamentals, most diseases from developed countries spread globally, which seems factually incorrect. In this connection, it also noteworthy to mention that all such problems are prolong and usually persists throughout life.
In present
concern, attention shall be concentrated around the well-established practices,
like treatment of hypertension, diabetes Mellitus etc. For example, following
facts [4, 5] can be
reviewed:
- Alteration in “High cholesterol” Definition from a total cholesterol ≥240 to ≥200 in 1998 increasing by 86% the numbers of Americans labeled has having high cholesterol, an additional 42.6 million adults.
- Alteration in “Hypertension:” changed in 1997 from 160/100 to 140/90, instantly adding 35% more Americans, 13.5 million, to the rosters of hypertensive. A new definition for ‘prehypertension’ in 2003 increased to 58% the Americans believing they have hypertension.
- “Diabetes:” Definition changed from a fasting glucose of ≥ 140 to ≥ 126 in 1997 by the American Diabetes Association and WHO Expert Committee on the Diagnosis and Classification of Diabetes Mellitus, increasing by 14% and 1.7 million the people diagnosed with diabetes. With the proposal of a new term, ‘prediabetes’ by the First International Congress on Prediabetes, and promoted by the International Diabetes Federation (sponsored by 12 pharmaceutical companies), 40% of the adult population was added to the rosters believing they have diabetes and are in need of treatment.
However, good news is from WHO estimates that about three-quarters of
the world's population currently uses herbs and other forms of traditional
medicines for the treatment of various diseases [4].
